Spyware

Spyware is such a broad term that even the definition of this computer scourge is fuzzy. So, what is spyware? The best definition out there is given by Wikipedia:
"Spyware is a broad category of malicious software intended to intercept or take partial control of a computer's operation without the user's informed consent."
Thus, spyware has come to mean not only the "software that spies on you," but also the software that performs other kinds of abuses and annoyances, outside the traditional virus-and-worm world. For example, displaying unwanted ads is a primary purpose of "adware," which is often categorized as a type of spyware. In fact, some people even extend the definition to cover browser cookies, relatively innocuous pieces of text used by websites for user tracking.
One angle missed by the above definition is that while some folks are known to launch viruses and worms, two well-known types of computer nasties, "just for fun," spyware is usually written for somebody's direct monetary benefit, often in the form of good old cash. This aspect is one of the keys to the dramatic rise of spyware.
Spyware emerged in recent years to "entertain" computer users. This emergence coincided with a sea change in the world of mainstream computer attackers that shifted their focus from having fun at somebody else's expense to making money at somebody else's expense. Spyware, along with spam, phishing ("social engineering" attacks via email intent on stealing credentials), and pharming (DNS attacks aimed at attracting users to malicious websites), is one of the most noticeable computer threats of the day. We did say "noticeable," although spyware is often engineered to be hard to find, hard to notice, hard to pay attention to (that is, hidden in a lengthy license) and, obviously, hard to remove. Spyware evolved in the same time frame as e-commerce and online banking. As business use of the internet was growing up, so was business abuse.

Open Office

ModuleNotes
OOoWriter.pngWriterword processor similar to Microsoft Word and WordPerfect. It can export Portable Document Format (PDF) files, and can function as a basic WYSIWYG editor for creating and editing web pages.
OOoCalc.pngCalcspreadsheet similar to Microsoft Excel and Lotus 1-2-3. Calc can export spreadsheets to the PDF format. (See ooWriter entry, above, for details of PDF). Calc provides a number of features not present in Excel, including a system which automatically defines series for graphing, based on the layout of the user’s data.
OOoImpress321logo.pngImpresspresentation program similar to Microsoft PowerPoint and Apple Keynote. Impress can export presentations to Adobe Flash (SWF) files, allowing them to be played on any computer with a Flash player installed. It also includes the ability to create PDF files, and the ability to read Microsoft PowerPoint's .ppt format. Impress lacks ready-made presentation designs but this can be overcome by downloading free templates on-line.[42][43]
OOoBase.pngBasedatabase management program similar to Microsoft Access. Base allows the creation and manipulation of databases, and the building of forms and reports to provide easy access to data for end-users. As with MS Access, Base can function as a front-end to a number of different database systems, including Access databases (JET), ODBC data sources and MySQL/PostgreSQL. Base became part of the suite starting with version 2.0. Native to the OpenOffice.org suite is an adaptation of HSQL. While Base can be a front-end for any of the databases listed, there is no need to install any of them. Raw SQL code can be entered by those who prefer it, or graphical user interfaces can be used.
OOoDraw.pngDrawvector graphics editor comparable in features to early versions of CorelDRAW and Microsoft Visio. It features versatile "connectors" between shapes, which are available in a range of line styles and facilitate building drawings such as flowcharts. It has similar features to desktop-publishing software such as Scribus andMicrosoft Publisher. Draw can also export its creations to the PDF format. (See ooWriter entry, above, for details of PDF).
OOoMath.pngMathA tool for creating and editing mathematical formulae, similar to Microsoft Equation Editor. OOo users can embed formulae inside other OpenOffice.org documents, such as those created by Writer. It supports multiple fonts and can export to PDF.

The trio, while recollecting hilarious antics, including their run-ins with the Dean of Delhi's Imperial College of Engineering, Viru Sahastrabudhe, race to locate Rancho, at his last known address - little knowing the secret that was kept from them all this time

Types of Computers

1.Personal Computer- is any general-purpose computer whose size, capabilities, and original sales price make it useful for individuals, and which is intended to be operated directly by an end-user with no intervening computer operator
2. Main frame- are powerful computers used mainly by large organizations for critical applications, typically bulk data processing such as census, industry and consumer statistics, enterprise resource planning, and financial transaction processing.
3. Workstations- is a high-end microcomputer designed for technical or scientific applications. Intended primarily to be used by one person at a time, they are commonly connected to a local area network and run multi-user operating systems
4. Desktop-  is a personal computer (PC) in a form intended for regular use at a single location, as opposed to a mobile laptop or portable computer.
5. Handheld Personal Computers-  is a term for a computer built around a form factor which is smaller than any standard laptop computer. It is sometimes referred to as a Palmtop
6. Personal Digital Assistants- also known as a palmtop computer, or personal data assistant, is a mobile device that functions as a personal information manager. Current PDAs often have the ability to connect to the Internet.
7.  Tablet PC- is tablet-sized computer that also has the key features of a full-size personal computer
8. Super Computer- Supercomputers are used for highly calculation-intensive tasks such as problems involving quantum physicsweather forecasting, climate research, molecular modeling (computing the structures and properties of chemical compounds, biological macromolecules, polymers, and crystals), and physical simulations (such as simulation of airplanes in wind tunnels, simulation of the detonation of nuclear weapons, and research into nuclear fusion)

Assignment no. 2 Invention due to necessity

This video shows a simple idea and the revolutionary lamps made of water! Because of too much electric consumption, this idea was created by a brazilian mechanical Mr. Alfredo Moser, one common person that can show how consumers should be converted to inventors of a new world that is possible.

The full story:
The most practical invention for lighting dark unlit rooms comes from inventor mechanic Mr. Alfredo Moser with his water light bulbs.
He notices that two clear two-liter bottles refract the sun very brightly when the bottles are filled with water.
So he decided to save on his electric bill. Mr. Moser cut holes in the ceiling of his mechanic auto shop, and sealed in the two liter bottles of water.
The result is the sun greatly brightened his workspace through the refracting water and bottle plastic in rooms that have not windows.
Mr. Moser says that chloride (about two bottle caps worth) will keep bacteria from clouding up bottle.
